Our study, “Limestone-Based Hybrid Passive Treatment for Copper-Rich Acid Mine Drainage: From Laboratory to Field”, has been published in Minerals (MDPI).

This work highlights a novel treatment system that combines a Limestone Leach Bed (LLB) with a Controlled Modular Packed Bed Reactor (CMPB). Developed in the laboratory and successfully deployed at a legacy copper–gold mine in Sto. Niño, Tublay, Benguet, Philippines, the system demonstrates a sustainable approach to improving water quality and supporting communities affected by abandoned mines.

This study presents and develops a novel water pollution index (WPI-AMD) designed to assess domestic water quality in AMD-impacted mining areas. The WPI-AMD utilizes a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) tool called the weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) approach, integrating both additive and multiplicative functions to overcome shortcomings of existing water quality and pollution indices (WQPI). WPI-AMD includes careful selection, categorization, weighting, normalization, calibration, and aggregation of relevant geochemical parameters.

On May 23-24, 2024, BioPlusMine conducted a Basic Journalism Skills Training (BJST) at Pontino Elementary School (PES) in Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. Twenty enthusiastic learners from PES and Sto. Nino Elementary School (SNES) delved into the world of journalism. They explored the fundamentals, roles, and principles of journalism, mastering news writing, feature writing, editorial cartooning, and photojournalism.
